Many, and I would venture to say most, people now kiss before getting married, but does “you may now kiss the bride” mean anything if we kiss before we are married? A kiss is shared with God as well as with the spouse, just as a marriage is a covenant, not only before God, but also with Him. We might do well to reserve the passion of kisses for marriage.
