The Economist links me to the Ten Commandments of Godblogging. Healthy reminders, I think. Read them.
Unfortunately, Christians seem to be mainly of two kinds: the too-nice kind and the inflammatory kind. This reflects two opposite dangers of evangelical discourse, namely, theological liberalism and fundamentalism. The point, however, is neither to make nice with ungodly ways (by the timidity of compromise or by the pride of being ‘in’ with mass culture) nor to refuse to engage (by undue explosiveness or by retreat into secluded shelter): rather, it’s to deliberately follow the church’s function as a critique of this ‘present evil age’ (Gal 1.3–5) and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to make it effectual.
